GYM Dialect in translation

I know the F.B.I. and C.I.A. have employment in linguistics in translation however when I first moved to California the English language is different from my training in Wisconsin.

I was in P.E. in the Gym, I was sitting on the ground with several females that I was introduced too.

We were talking about vacations.   There was a blond and she said, "she was from organ."

 "I said, organ?!"

"Where's that?!"  I said.

She said" it was up, with a question mark on her face."

In a group setting all the other females asked, "don't you know where organ is?!"

I looked up.

"NO!!!!" they screamed.

"Not in here!!!!"  She said.

I said, "what city is in it?!"

She  said, "Portland, Organ."

"Oh"...I said, bouncing my head up in down in understanding that she said, it wrong.

Where I used to live ....we said, "OR-E-GON"  (the E was an A)

Then everybody looked at me and asked where I was from?

and I said, "Wisconsin.."

"Really?!"  "Where is that in Europe?"  "What Nation is that?!"  They asked.

"No."  "Wisconsin..."I said it slower this time.

"Ok."  "What was the city?!"  They asked.

And I spelled it out real slow.

"O-CO-NO-MO-WOC." (THEN I said it real fast,  Oconomowoc).

They all nodded there heads, but before they could ask me any more questions our Japanese P.E.  teacher told us to get up, and she told us the basics.

In the early morning (8am) we were to run around the outside of the school, run from the sporting area to the outside of the school fence and run on the sidewalk, run to the school parking lot, and the school pool(where there is a morning class) and then back to the gym.

I did this for 3 months.
